Credit reference and fraud prevention agencies

We may obtain information about you from credit reference agencies, fraud prevention agencies and RBS Group records to check your credit status and identity. The agencies will record our enquiries which may be seen by other companies who make their own credit enquiries. We may use credit scoring. Your information may be linked to, and your application assessed using credit reference agency records relating to anyone with whom you have a joint account or similar financial association. We will check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If you provide false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this. We and other organisations may use these records to: help make decisions about credit and credit related services for you and members of your household; help make decisions on motor, household, credit, life and other insurance proposals and insurance claims, for you and members of your household; trace debtors, recover debt, prevent fraud, and to manage your accounts or insurance policies; check your identity to prevent money laundering, unless you furnish us with satisfactory proof of identity. We may make periodic searches of and provide information (including how you manage your account and any arrears) to credit reference agencies, fraud prevention agencies and RBS Group to manage and take decisions about your account. Such information may be used by other credit providers to take decisions about you and your financial associates.

Key Facts - Payment Protection Insurance (for Sole Traders only)

Features of a Tesco Business Cardholder Payment Protection Plan Policy. Please read Your Policy carefully to ensure it meets your needs.

This Tesco Business Card Payment Protection Plan Policy can repay 10% of the outstanding balance on your Tesco Business Card on a monthly basis (up to a maximum of £700 and for a maximum of 12 months), if you are unable to work for more than 30 consecutive days as a result of accident, sickness and unemployment. In the event of a death claim, we will pay to Tesco Personal Finance the outstanding balance on your Agreement as at the date of death. The most we will pay is £7,000.

Accident, Sickness and Unemployment cover is underwritten by UK Insurance Limited. Life cover is provided by Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited. Your cover will run in conjunction with your Tesco Business Card. As this Policy could run for several years, you may want to review your insurance needs periodically to ensure the Policy is adequate. Your Policy Summary does not contain the full Terms and Conditions of the Policy, these can be found in Your Policy.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the cover, you must on the date you sign your Agreement or the date we accept you for insurance if this is later:

  • be the principal cardholder under your Agreement who is also the owner of the business; and
  • have applied for cover and agreed to pay the appropriate monthly premium; and
  • be aged 18-64; and
  • be a Sole Trader.

Important

If you know of any likely unemployment or illness, medical condition or injury which may cause you to claim, we can still cover you but we will not pay any claim which is directly related to the Unemployment or illness, medical condition or injury that you knew about on the Start date.

Am I always covered?

The cover is subject to exclusions, all of which are fully explained in the policy booklet. However, listed below are those significant exclusions for your information, which are included in the &exclusions& Section 4 of Your Policy. This policy does not cover additional cardholders.

Unemployment

  • knowledge of impending Unemployment;
  • Unemployment during initial exclusion period of 60 days;
  • Unemployment which is in anyway voluntary, including voluntary early retirement;
  • you must be continuously at work for the 6 months before your Self-employment ends;
  • you must register with the Department for Work and Pensions to be able to claim under the unemployment section of the Policy.

Accident and Sickness

  • pre-existing medical conditions;
  • self-inflicted injury;
  • backache and related conditions unless there is radiological evidence (for example, an MRI scan) of abnormality;
  • civil unrest, war, terrorism, radiation and radioactive contamination, or any related event.

Life cover

  • pre-existing medical conditions;
  • self-inflicted injury;
  • civil unrest, war, terrorism, radiation and radioactive contamination, or any related event.

Duration of the contract

The contract will come to an end on your 65th birthday; if your Agreement ends or is cancelled; retirement (you must tell us if you retire before age 65); miss paying your monthly minimum balance 3 months in a row; your death.

Your right to cancel

If this cover does not meet your requirements, please return all your documents within 30 days of receipt. We will return any premium paid in full provided no claims have been made on the Policy during that time.

How to complain

Should there ever be an occasion where you need to complain, please call us on our priority number 0845 309 8765. If you wish to write, then address your letter to Customer Liaison Unit, UK Insurance Limited, The Wharf, Neville Street, Leeds LS1 4AZ.

If we cannot resolve the differences between us, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Their address is South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SR, or telephone 0845 080 1800.

Details about our Regulator

Tesco Personal Finance Limited, UK Insurance Limited and Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited are all authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. The Financial Services Authority website which includes a register of all regulated firms can be visited at www.fsa.gov.uk/register (new window), or the Financial Services Authority can be contacted on 0845 606 1234. Under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, should UK Insurance Limited or Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited be unable to meet their liabilities to policyholders, compensation may be available. Insurance contracts are covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit. Key Facts - Commercial Card Protection

Commercial Card Protection Plan is provided by Card Protection Plan Limited (CPP), who arrange cover for you with ACE European Group Limited, ACE Building, 100 Leadenhall Street, London EC3A 3BP (FSA authorisation number 202803). Benefits include:

  • up to £1,000 cover against fraudulent use of your cards so long as CPP is notified within 24 hours of discovering loss/theft and up to £50,000 thereafter (Policy section B1) plus cash advance (section B8), hotel bill advance (section B6) and replacement travel tickets (section B7) subject to status and repayable within 28 days. Exceptions: Unauthorised card use, cover is not available if employees use the card in a way not permitted (section A2).

Duration of the contract

This is an annual policy which will renew each year until you cancel.

Your right to cancel

If this cover does not meet your requirements, please call us on 0870 600 3088 within 14 days of your start date or renewal date and we will cancel your Policy right away. We will return any premium paid in full during that time. Please note that if you choose to cancel your Policy outside of the cooling off periods shown above, you will not be entitled to a refund.

How to claim or make a complaint

For claims or complaints about your Policy telephone 0870 120 1251. If you remain dissatisfied you may be able to refer to the Financial Ombudsman Service on 0845 080 1800.

CPP and ACE are members of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. If CPP or ACE cannot meet their obligations you may be eligible for compensation under the scheme. Insurance advising and arranging is covered 100% for the first £2,000 and 90% for the remainder, without any upper limit.
