10 Things you should always keep in your car
- Make sure you always have some basic fluids in your car, such as brake fluid, engine oil and windscreen washer fluid.
- Keep matches and candles or a lighter in the car.
- Keep a cheap camera in the glove box in case of an accident. Most phones have cameras, but it is always good to have another one handy.
- A shovel so that if you ever get stuck in the snow or mud you can dig your way out.
- A blanket to keep warm if you do breakdown in bad weather.
- A torch, so that if you get stranded at night you have some form of light. And if it is battery operated then keep the batteries with spares in the glove box.
- Jumper cables so you can get the battery going if they run flat.
- A spare tyre and repair tools so that if you do have a puncture you can change the tyre and get back on the road as quickly as possible.
- A mobile phone charger that runs off the cigarette lighter.
- Maps. Don't get lost and plan your trip properly.
