Advanced driving
Many accidents in the UK are as a result of young drivers being reckless and bad driving is mostly to blame.
Road deaths are one of the main causes of death for people aged under 25, so why not give yourself all the resources and experience you can by looking into an advanced driving course?
There are many advantages to doing an advanced driving course, the main one being that it helps to make you a more confident, skilful and safer driver. There is also the added benefit that it could reduce your car insurance premium and lower your car maintenance costs as you will learn how to use your brakes, clutch and gearbox more efficiently.
Advanced driving courses will help you better assess road conditions and determine the speed you should be driving in those situations, whether it is driving too fast or too slowly. Many people drive at the incorrect speed (due to lack of observation, skill and awareness), advanced driving courses will build your confidence to travel at correct and safe speeds in any situation.
There are two main recognised ways of getting advanced driving qualifications; the Pass Plus certificate (new window) which is a series of six lessons which teach you how to deal with various driving conditions, and the Institute of Advanced Motoring training (new window) which teaches drivers how to handle their car in all types of situations from country roads, to downtown areas and motorways. The programme uses principles of advanced driving that the Metropolitan Police use.
