Imported cars

As the number of Japanese imports to the UK increases, so does the market for imported car insurance - always good news for the consumer.

Here are some facts you need to know before buying a second hand imported car.

Imported used Japanese cars have become very popular in the UK because of their low mileage and great quality. These cars are widely known to have the performance of supercars with a price tag of an average family car.

Some of the most popular Japanese imports are the Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Nissan Fairlady, Toyota Supra, Nissan Pulsar, Honda Prelude, Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Hilux Surf amd the Toyota Landcruiser.

It can be hard to find car insurance for one of these cars as insurance companies will often charge you a very high premium or sometimes offer no cover at all because of the difficulty and expense of obtaining spare parts.

Additionally insurance can cost more as generally the specification of the car is often higher than standard models in the UK. The cost of higher premiums may be offset by the fact that the overall cost of the car is less than a European car, however before you buy a Japanese import do check that a reputable car insurance company will insure the model you want to buy.
