Facts about mature drivers
Drivers over 50 years of age are referred to in the insurance industry as "Mature drivers", "Older drivers" and "Elderly drivers".
In general if you are aged between 50 and 70 your insurance will cost less as you are statistically likely to have fewer accidents, simply by virtue of the fact that you have more experience on the road. So make sure you get a car insurance policy to reflect that!
After your 70th birthday this is no longer true and you may find yourself paying up to 30% more than you paid when you were in your 50s. For women it can get even more expensive as the likelihood of being involved in and accident rises statistically as your reaction times slow and your eyesight deteriorates.
If you are looking for cheap car insurance for older drivers, make sure the company you choose rewards your no claims history. It is also worth maintaining your no claims history by paying for tiny bumps or scratches.
