As with all insurance policies there are some things that aren't covered such as pre-existing conditions, emergency treatment and treatment that can be provided by the NHS within 6 weeks of when this should take place. There is no cover for the treatment of chronic illnesses. See what isn't included.

Here's how it works…

1. Your child won't have to wait for an appointment to find out what's wrong. Your GP refers your child to a consultant or specialist.
2. Your child will be able to go private straight away - if the consultant or specialist advises further treatment is needed and unavailable on the NHS within six weeks from when treatment should take place.
3. Private treatment available in a private hospital or as a private patient at an NHS hospital.
4. Call the Tesco Child Health Plan team once your child has been referred to confirm the treatment is eligible.
