What's not included?

Tesco Health Insurance provides a range of benefits to suit your needs. As with all insurance policies, there are exclusions which apply. These are detailed below.

  • Tesco Health Insurance is designed to cover treatment of unexpected medical conditions. Treatment of any new medical conditions you have after you join will be covered immediately - within the terms of your policy.
  • For two years after you join, you will not be covered for medical conditions which existed during the five years immediately before your start date. This includes diagnosed medical conditions as well as those for which you had symptoms but no diagnosis.
  • At the end of your first two years, you will be able to claim for these conditions if you have not had any medical treatment or any medical advice, or taken any drugs or medicines, or followed any special diets to help the condition for two years immediately before the treatment would be due to start.
  • If you have had treatment in those two years, then you will not be able to claim for those conditions or related conditions - you will have to wait until you have gone for a period of two years without any treatment or advice or help or drugs.
  • There are some medical conditions that continue or keep recurring and you will never be able to make a claim for treatment of these. This is because you will always need to have medical advice or take medication, so you will not be able to go for a period of two years without advice.
