Security advice
There are so many simple and often inexpensive ways of protecting your home and your possessions in it.
Follow these simple instructions to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones:
Firstly try to see your house from the eyes of a burglar. For example, where would you try to break in? Are there places someone can enter the house or flat without being seen? Make sure the house is well lit, inside and out, and that it looks as though you are there even when you are not.
When you are away on holiday ask your friends to stop by every so often so that it seems that people are living there. Ask them to clear away any junk mail that might be cluttering the mailbox. Make sure all your gates and fences are in good condition and that the lawn is cut before you leave.
We also offer benefits to customers who have fitted security systems to their homes, we offer up to 12.5% if you have a burglar alarm installed. An alarm that is installed and maintained professionally gives you 7.5% off your contents premium. And if it automatically notifies the police, the discount is increased to 12.5 %. If you have approved locks on your doors and windows we'll give you a 5% discount. (This discount is not available if you buy online).
Then there are the obvious things that do make a difference. Keep your doors locked, your windows secure and close your curtains at night.
