How to stop smoking
Giving up smoking really is a lifestyle change, not just shaking a habit. As legislation changes to be stricter on smoking in public places it presents the perfect opportunity to give up.
You need to look at giving up from the perspective that you are taking control and changing your life for the better, and not that you are giving up something. Here are some helpful hints that will help you kick the habit and become healthier.
Start by making a list of everything you have to gain by giving up smoking. This will act as a motivational list for you. For example, being able to go jogging without struggling to breathe, or raising your children in a healthier environment. Those are two serious examples, but not all of them have to be, you could also add that you don't have to go stand outside in the cold for a cigarette when you are in the pub.
Think of all the money you can save. Calculate how much money you spend on smoking annually and plan to buy your self a treat with the savings.
Talk to your doctor about the products available to help you stop smoking and the withdrawal symptoms you may encounter.
The day before you give up go through the house, car and office and throw out all cigarettes, ashtrays, lighters and matches.
